Home Depot bike parking, part 2

Frank attempts to park his bike at the South Loop Home Depot on Clinton, just south of Roosevelt (incidentally a next door neighbor to another bike parking scofflaw, Best Buy).

He just can't do it because a Home Depot rental truck is parked here (at all times when it's not being rented). If this truck is not parked here, usually a different motor vehicle is.

This Best Buy DVD is for sale on the Target shelves. Not sure how they missed that.

As you can see that the Target price is MUCH lower then Best Buy.

Today my old desk top did its last crash ( or i think) I am now using an older desk top now and hope it will work for me for a while. Not sure i will be able to photoshop anything for a while but at least i will still be able to view pictures on flickr. only real problem was ths one doesn't have but 4 USB ports i used four normally and then have to use my leptop card reader to off load the pictures from the camera so off to Bet buy this evening to get a USB hub now i have enough.

Bad bike parking

This is an example if bad bike parking. This rack is at Best Buy's
South Loop location on Roosevelt and Clinton, just north of Home Depot
which also has bad bike parking.

What is wrong?

1. This style bike rack requests that cyclists respectfully lock their
bikes perpendicular to the curb. In doing so, the bike will block more
than 60% of the sidewalk width. If a cyclist recognizes this and locks
thief bike parallel to the rack, the amount of bikes that can be
locked to this rack is reduced.

2. The distance between each wave is so small that only one bike can
fit in the wave. City wave racks are crafted with waves that allow two
bikes in each wave.

3. This rack can easily be stolen and I will not be surprised when it
is. Gaze your eyes to the rack's attachment point at the base. Only
the base is "firmly" joined to the sidewalk while the rack is joined
to the base with a simple bolt and nut.

4. Location. This rack faces a blank wall of the Best Buy, over 100
feet away from the entrance. No one is looking out for this rack or
this stretch of the street.

Best Buy installed this same rack on the north side of the building,
on Roosevelt.
